Privacy Policy

The short version

Every tool and game on this site runs in your browser. Names, options and participant lists entered into our decision tools are not uploaded to our server or saved by the site. There is no account or login. If you explicitly copy, download or print a Game Night Kit plan, that export contains the names you chose to include; share it only with the intended people. Pocket Ricochet remembers game scores locally and sends limited anonymous play events as described below; it does not upload participant lists or personal details.

Pocket Ricochet scorecard images are drawn and downloaded locally. The image contains the score, per-shot results, hint disclosure and a public course address, not a player name or identifier. Downloading an image is not recorded as a share event.

What is logged

This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, and like almost every website on the internet, the hosting infrastructure automatically records basic request information (such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested) for security and performance purposes. That logging happens at the hosting layer, not in anything this site's own code writes, and it does not include anything you typed into a tool. Cloudflare Web Analytics also measures page visits and performance.

Pocket Ricochet sends start, finish, replay, successful copy/share and later-day return events to our own /api/game-events endpoint, stored in Cloudflare Analytics Engine. Each event contains only its type, the shared course code, score, number of targets caught, elapsed time capped at one hour, and whether it is an automated test. No player identifier, name, email, IP address or participant list is written into that dataset. Hosting infrastructure may still process request information separately. These are aggregate interaction counts, not unique-player counts, verified competitive scores or proof that a friend opened a shared link. The game event recorder honors the browser's Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal. No advertising network is currently configured.

If advertising is added to this site in the future, the advertising provider (expected to be Google AdSense) will set its own cookies and may use your browsing activity across sites to select ads. That is standard for ad-supported sites and is separate from the tools themselves: the ad network never sees the contents of a textarea, because that data never leaves your browser in the first place. This section will be updated with the specific advertising disclosures required at the time ads are actually enabled, not before, so this policy always describes what is really running rather than what might run later.

Cookies and local storage

The decision tools set no cookies and use no browser storage; each starts with its example list. Pocket Ricochet uses one local-storage entry, funstuff.ricochet.v1, for up to 32 course-best scores and the last UTC day played. It sends no persistent identifier with play events. Clear this entry using Clear saved game scores in the game's controls section, or your browser's site-data settings. Blocking storage does not prevent play; the game will explain that scores cannot be saved.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, of any age — there is no field anywhere on the site that asks for a name, email address or other personal detail belonging to the person using it. A teacher pasting a class roster into the name-picker tool is typing that list into their own browser only; it is never transmitted or retained.

Changes to this policy

This policy is a static page checked in alongside the site's code, so any change to it ships as a dated, reviewable edit rather than a silent update. If you have a question about anything on this page, use the contact page.
