About Fun Stuff

Why this exists

Fun Stuff started from a small annoyance: every "random name picker" or "team generator" online was either bolted onto an account sign-up, buried under autoplay video ads, or quietly biased in ways that only matter when there is actually something at stake — a prize, a seating chart, a cold call in a classroom. None of that needed to be true. A wheel spin is one function call. A team split is a shuffle and a deal. There is no reason any of it should need your email address.

So this is a small set of tools that do one job each, run entirely on your device, and are built the way the underlying maths says they should be built rather than the way that is quickest to ship. The engineering choices are documented on every tool page, not hidden: how the randomness is drawn, why the winner is decided before the animation plays, why splitting a group evenly is a shuffle-then-deal rather than a series of independent coin flips.

What is different here

Two decisions run through every tool. First, fairness is verified, not assumed: the site's automated tests include a case that scripts a biased random draw and checks it gets rejected, because a wheel that looks fair and a wheel that is fair are not automatically the same thing. Second, your lists stay yours. There is no login and no list of names sent to a server. The browser you are reading this in does the work. Our games separately remember local best scores and record anonymous interaction counts; the privacy policy describes those fields.

That second point matters more as the site grows. Advertising may appear on these pages in the future to keep them free and ad-network cookies work differently from a login system, so if that day comes the privacy policy will be updated first, and it will say exactly what changed.

What is next

Fun Stuff now includes original quick games alongside useful decision tools. Pocket Ricochet is eight browser-based trick shots: bank off the walls, find the target, and send a friend the same course. There is no download, paid upgrade or global leaderboard. It is a playable experiment, not a promise about popularity. If a tool or game gets something wrong, or you have a new use case, the contact page is the way to say so.
